SDS Hackathon will be an on-site event  held on April 8th, 2022 at the Palau de Congressos de Palma from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., mainland Spain time (CTE or UCT+1).

The objective of the SDS Hackathon is to create solutions to problems related to the tourism and sustainability sector. Participants will aim to create, develop and document a solution to these challenges:

• Water Challenge: An effective control of the water is necessary given its great limitation on the island and its environmental impact. Create solutions for the use and management of water, as well as the control of losses and flows of the water cycle, both for drinking, regenerated and residual water.
• Food Challenge: Create solutions, it could be anything from a tech concept to cooperative groups, that along with the appropriate public policies, helps to promote the adaptation of the agricultural and livestock sector, as well as traditional professions linked to the sector, to the local economy, especially related to the tourist environment.
• Mobility Challenge: Create solutions to facilitate and optimize internal, island-continent and inter-island mobility in any means of transport, seeking maximum sustainability with minimum impact based on resource optimization.

Who can participate? 

Professionals, researchers and students with an interest in and commitment to sustainability or Mallorca. Must be over 18 years of age and have a desire to test their talent and have fun providing solutions to impact the economic, social and environmental.

Awards

The teams will participate for a total of €15,000 in prizes, assigning a prize of €5,000 to the winning team of each challenge, to be shared equally among the 5 team members.
